Jeff Bezos’ vanity project, the Washington Post, has just come out with a report that confirms that Senate Republican quislings are once again trying to “run away” from President Trump like little girls with their skirts all in a bunch.

These Senate Republican traitors spend all day watching CNN and reading the New York Times, so it’s no surprise that they have fallen hook, line, and sinker for the false narrative that President Trump is “dragging down the ticket” with “divisive rhetoric.”

Indeed, an analysis of the latest polls indicates that President Trump is outpolling these Chicken Littles. Their little scheme to try to save their own hides may actually backfire on them if they don’t get smart and tough, fast.

The Washington Post explains the Senate Republicans’ cowardly strategy:

In his most recent television ad, Colorado’s Cory Gardner cheerfully touts an outdoor conservation bill he recently wrote. Arizona’s Martha McSally denounces “communist China” in her 30-second clips. And North Carolina’s Thom Tillis showcases his humble roots in a trailer park as he vows to protect jobs for American workers.

Missing from the spate of ads: President Donald Trump.

Republican senators up for reelection this fall in tight races have been unwilling to publicly criticize Trump as he continues to fan racial tensions and struggles to control a pandemic that has devastated the economy and killed close to 130,000 Americans. But they are being careful not to embrace him either.

In their campaign ads back home, it’s as if the unpopular incumbent president doesn’t exist, as Republicans choose instead to highlight their own achievements or go on the attack against their Democratic challengers.

This deliberate approach underscores the difficult position Republicans find themselves in as they head into an election season that looks increasingly grim for the party. The senators don’t want to clash with Trump and rile up his stable of loyal supporters whose votes they will need to be reelected, but they also don’t want to hug him tightly him and turn off more moderate voters whose views of the president have turned negative.

“The sweet spot is finding real ways to show your independence and to do it in ways that don’t antagonize the base,” said Republican strategist Matt Gorman, vice president at the GOP consulting firm Targeted Victory.[Washington Post]

This strategy is extremely foolhardy, because in our hyper-partisan political environment, there are vanishingly few voters who are truly independent and truly on the fence about who to support in November.

In 2016, the Republican Senators were deathly afraid of candidate Trump, but it turned out they all won their Senate seats thanks to Donald Trump’s coattails, as Democratic efforts to tie Republican candidates to candidate Trump actually made the Republicans more popular.

Senate GOP Rides Trump’s Coattails to Victory

November 9, 2016 at 2:22 am ET

In the nation’s tightest Senate races, many of which doubled as presidential battleground states, Democrats tried to tie their Republicans rivals to the fate of their presidential nominee, Donald Trump. It worked from Wisconsin to Pennsylvania, but not quite like they expected — and Republicans scored big wins on Tuesday to ensure they retain their majority. [Morning Consult]

Rather than “run away” from President Trump, these Republican jokers should be running with him, and eagerly fighting against the woke mafia that threatens our liberties, our heritage, our families, and our livelihoods.

But instead, they are listening to failed jokers like Frank Luntz.

In a closed-door party lunch last week, veteran GOP pollster Frank Luntz advised Republican senators to not disavow the president, but to put some daylight between themselves and Trump, according to two people familiar with his presentation who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the private remarks. Luntz also warned that this November’s congressional results could be similar to the 2006 midterms, when Democrats wrested control of both chambers away from the GOP after President George W. Bush’s popularity fell as a result of the Iraq War and Hurricane Katrina. Luntz did not respond to a request for comment. [Washington Post]

Here’s Frank Luntz in 2016.

Here’s Frank Luntz in 2020.

The fact that Republicans are paying top dollar for this genius level of strategic analysis says it all about how out of touch they are with the rest of the country.

An analysis of the 2020 polls confirms that, just like in 2016, President Trump is far more popular than the Republican Senate quislings who are so eager to “run away” from him.

Now, let’s look at these Republican cowards one by one. First up is Senator Martha McSally of Arizona. McSally first ran in 2018 to fill the Senate seat vacated by Jeff Flake. Despite the fact that many other conservative Republicans won Senate seats in deep-red states, McSally lost by two points. Nevertheless, the Arizona Republican establishment appointed her to fill the Senate seat vacated by the late John McCain. McSally has already lost one Senate election, and now she appears to be trying to make it two for two.

McSally may be trying to pretend President Trump doesn’t exist, but in the latest RCP polling averages, President Trump averages 44.0 percent in Arizona and Senator McSally averages only 41.3 percent. In fact, the latest poll from Arizona, released by Gravis, shows Trump leading Biden 49 to 45. Biden leads President Trump in the averages by 3.5 points, whereas McSally is losing to her opponent by an average of 6.7 points. If McSally wants to get serious, she will follow President Trump’s lead on the issues, and ignore the mainstream media and failed pollsters like Frank Luntz.

Now, let’s take a look at Senator Thom Tillis.

Tillis, who faced a potential intraparty threat until conservative businessman Garland Tucker decided not to pursue a bid, highlighted Trump’s endorsement of him in an ad that ran during the primary season. But in his general election ads, any mention of the president has disappeared, as Tillis instead highlights his background and promises a laser focus on jobs for North Carolinians. [Washington Post]

Senator Tillis should be commended for going from a trailer park to the United States Senate, but these kind of biographical sketches are never going to win him an election. The days are long gone when the Chamber of Commerce can parachute into a state with millions of dollars of puff piece ads to buy a Senate seat.

The polling in North Carolina shows President Trump averaging 44.2 percent, and Thom Tillis only averaging 40.5 percent. In fact, the very latest poll shows Trump down to Biden by four percentage points, and Tillis losing to his rival by eight percentage points. Perhaps this is because working-class voters in North Carolina prefer Trump’s America First position to  Senator Tillis’ Donor First strategy.

The people of North Carolina want a Senator who is going to represent them on the issues, and always put America First by standing with President Trump in defense of our jobs, our history, and our liberties. Senator Tillis had better get smart, and fast.

Here’s a quick rundown of the remaining Senators listed as “running away” from President Trump in the Washington Post agenda hitpiece.

-President Trump leads Biden by 1.5 points in Iowa with 46.0 percent of the vote. Senator Joni Ernst is losing in Iowa by 1.0 points with 43.0 percent of the vote.

-In Colorado, President Trump wins 45 percent of the vote in the Emerson poll, while Senator Cory Gardner only wins 40 percent.

-In Georgia, President Trump notches 49 percent of the vote, while Senator Perdue only notches 45 percent.

Revolver Conclusion: If Republicans are going to hold the Senate in 2020, it will mostly likely be by riding President Donald Trump’s coattails like they did in 2016. The American voters will always prefer an America First agenda to the corrupt, donor-driven agenda of too many Republicans in the Senate.

The last thing America needs is for anti-American leftists to control the Senate. Instead of depressing base turnout by shying away from President Trump, Republican Senators must boost turnout with a full-throated embrace of President Trump’s America First rhetoric and agenda.
